How your information is handled
Being straight with you
What a technician can see
Almost anything. That's the honest answer, and anyone who tells you otherwise isn't being straight. Fixing a computer usually means being signed in to it. And once you're signed in, the files and the email are right there.
We work on computers, phones and networks in people's homes and businesses, which means we're sometimes working very close to things that are private. We take that seriously.
So the protection isn't that nothing canbe seen. It's what gets done about it, every time, in every job.
How we work
Our privacy rules, in plain English
These are rules Local Tech Solutions works to, not one person's habits. Your computer is personal, and it's treated that way.
Nothing is copied onto anyone else's equipment
Your files go from your old device to your new one, or to a drive you own. Nothing is moved onto a laptop or a memory stick belonging to Local Tech Solutions, not even briefly.
Nothing is kept afterwards
When the visit ends, nothing of yours leaves with anyone. No copies, no lists, no screenshots. Nothing to lose and nothing to leak.
Nobody goes looking
Only what the job needs gets opened, and nothing else. Your photos, your banking, your documents: if it isn't part of the job, it stays closed.
Your setup is never discussed with anyone
Not with another customer, not as an example, not as a story. What's in your house stays in your house.
If a drive is physically failing
If a drive is clicking, grinding, or won't start, we stop. Continuing to work on it is often what turns a recoverable problem into an unrecoverable one. We'll explain what's happening and help you get it to a proper recovery lab instead.
The formal policy
This page explains our privacy practices in plain English. For the full details of how personal information is collected, used, retained and protected, see our Privacy Policy.
Still not sure? Ask.
If there's anything here you'd want explained before booking a visit, call and ask. It's a reasonable question and you'll get a straight answer.
